Erykah Badu & The Roots – I Wanna Be Where You Are (Jackson 5 Cover)

This was one of my favorite songs by the Jackson 5 when I was a kid and I still love it to this day. Never did I think in a million years that anyone could cover it and do it justice. So this song was recorded live at a party that Motown gives the first Saturday of every month. The Session Features The Dallas Hip Hop Scene

The Session is a short documentary by Jeff Schroer (Stottle) on the Dallas hip-hop scene in 1995. Started as weekly freestyle party hosted by “Big” Ben Rogers and Erykah “Free” (aka Erykah Badu), The Session was originally created by Cold Chris (Mad Flava) and Ben as an informal MC meetup at Ben’s home. The Session, with Erykah’s help, then became the center of Dallas hip-hop for a few brief months that year.The Documentary also features… Skin Wade, Mikey Culture, Mental Wreck and DJ Del Furious… The D-Town Underground is still dope!!! There is still a weekly event that follows this same format. It’s hosted by Erykah Badu’s Music Director/Producer/Keyboardist R.C. Williams.
