Rapper Actor Common Pens Memoir

He’s  widely respected in the rap game and  has also established credibility as an actor. Now the conscious rapper, Grammy Award winning emcee, known as Common Sense in his early days, has written a book that debuted on the New York Times best-sellers list. “One Day It Will All Make Sense” chronicles the life of Lonnie Rashid Lynn aka Common. The book depicts his life as a boy growing up on the streets of the South Side of Chicago to his journey to  becoming a man.   The book allows readers to explore Common’s life from his perspective. “People who know me as Common might find it hard to believe some of the things that made me Rashid,” the rap star says in a press release. “That’s partly why I’ve written this book, so that I can show myself as a man in full. That means telling some tough truths, revealing my faults and vulnerabilities. But it also means showing the true strength of my character.” It also speaks of the relationship he shared with his mother Dr. Mahalia Hines, who is quoted throughout the book.  It was her guidance that led him to be the man he is today.

“One Day It’ll All Make Sense” was released on Sept. 13, 2011 and debuted at 20th place on the New York Times best-sellers list. Musically, Common is scheduled to drop his ninth studio album, “The Dreamer, The Believer” on Nov. 22, 2011. You can follow Common on Facebook and Twitter
