The Mountaintop Opens on Broadway

The Mountaintop Opens on Broadway

The Mountaintop is a play by American playwright Katori Hall. It is a fictional depiction of the Reverend Martin Luther King‘s last night on earth set entirely in Room 306 of the Lorraine Motel on the eve of his assassination on April 4, 1968.

Taking place on April 3, 1968, THE MOUNTAINTOP is a gripping reimagining of events the night before the assassination of civil rights leaderDr. Martin Luther King, Jr. After delivering one of his most memorable speeches, an exhausted Dr. King (Samuel L. Jackson) retires to his room at the Lorraine Motel while a storm rages outside. When a mysterious stranger (Angela Bassett) arrives with some surprising news, King is forced to confront his destiny and his legacy to his people.

Sy Smith/A woman of many talents ….

We all know Sy Smith as an amazing singer, but did you know she was also an actress…(go ahead my Aquarian sister)! She has  appeared in quite a few projects and you can see everything she has done by clicking here http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1106426/ and most recently she shot the new video for Gordon Chambers, who by the way has a brand new album! This is Gordon Chambers’ latest video for his single “I Can’t Love You (If You Don’t Love You)”.  This Grammy-winning singer/songwriter hand-picked Sy to star in his very first music video.  “We were giving them Billy Dee and Diana, and she was the lady singing my blues!” says Gordon. Well we can’t wait to see the video and will most definitely feature it on the site and tv show.  Also if that wasn’t enough, she is about to hit the road with The Foreign Exchange for some dates and then goes right back home to perform in LA. Rapper Actor Common Pens Memoir

He’s  widely respected in the rap game and  has also established credibility as an actor. Now the conscious rapper, Grammy Award winning emcee, known as Common Sense in his early days, has written a book that debuted on the New York Times best-sellers list. “One Day It Will All Make Sense” chronicles the life of Lonnie Rashid Lynn aka Common. The book depicts his life as a boy growing up on the streets of the South Side of Chicago to his journey to  becoming a man.   The book allows readers to explore Common’s life from his perspective. “People who know me as Common might find it hard to believe some of the things that made me Rashid,” the rap star says in a press release. “That’s partly why I’ve written this book, so that I can show myself as a man in full. That means telling some tough truths, revealing my faults and vulnerabilities. But it also means showing the true strength of my character.” It also speaks of the relationship he shared with his mother Dr. Mahalia Hines, who is quoted throughout the book.  It was her guidance that led him to be the man he is today.

“One Day It’ll All Make Sense” was released on Sept. 13, 2011 and debuted at 20th place on the New York Times best-sellers list. Musically, Common is scheduled to drop his ninth studio album, “The Dreamer, The Believer” on Nov. 22, 2011. You can follow Common on Facebook and Twitter

RCA closes subsidiaries

RCA closes subsidiaries

RCA Music Group is slimming down for the holidays by shuttering its Arista, Jive and J Records subsidiaries, a move by new label execs to strengthen the identity of the RCA brand.

Artists who have been with those three imprints, which have been home to Britney Spears, Alicia Keys, Rod Stewart, Pitbull, Whitney Houston, Justin Timberlake, Barry Manilow, R. Kelly, Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia, Dido, Jennifer Hudson, Leona Lewis and others, will be shifted to RCA.

Jive produced several of the biggest-selling albums of all time in the midst of the youth pop boom a decade ago, including the multi-platinum hits for ‘N Sync, the Backstreet Boys and Spears.

The changes do not affect the Arista Nashville label, or the other three country music labels that are under the Sony Music Nashville umbrella: RCA, Columbia and BNA.
