“She was way too fly for me so I tried to grow wings”…that is a line, from the song Amorous, of an artist who has soulful moxie. Maybe one of my favorite lines of one Jessie Boykins lll, the often known world soul artist whose new album BARTHOLOMEW just dropped this week. The 31 year old Jamaican Chicago native has always made music his passion. He started singing in the school choir at age nine in Miami and even recorded an album with the Grammy Jazz Ensemble in high school. He, later on, perfected his skills at the New School University in NYC and has become a staple of the New York music scene ever since. His albums include The Beauty Created, Way of Wayfarer, Zulu Guru and 2014’s masterpiece Love Apparatus. With classics like Pantyhose and Come To My Room, JBIII has always left us with quality music and I am sure this new album will keep his amazing career going.
