NSC Spotlight Artist: Alex Isley
by Darrien DeVaughn
Alex Isley’s spirit is as beautiful as the songs she writes and produces. It’s a talent that has been enriched in her soul since she was staging performances in the living room for her famous father, Ernie Isley and her uncles who are apart of one of the greatest RnB groups of all time The Isley Brothers. Her love for singing led her to take classical vocal training at 12. She later developed a passion for jazz which led her to majoring in Jazz Studies at UCLA. With knowledge for her craft from her hard work and developing a unique aspect for music she penned and produced her first EP ” The Love/Art Memoirs” in 2012 which featured SET IN STONE, a single off rhe album that was featured on the BET movie “The Last Fall. She followed it up with DREAMS IN ANALOG in 2013 and a handful of covers as well. Alex has also worked with the likes of Brandon Williams, Moonchild, Scarface and Kendrick Lamar. Her new album LUXURY became available during the summer of this year and she hopes to come and perform at a stage near you. A couple of songs you may want to check out is the cover to Dwele’s hit “Weekend Love” and her own beautifully written song “Orbit”. The voice of an angel and one of my favorites, Alex Isley will be a mainstay in your hearts as well as your headphones.
