Born in Harlem NYC, Daniel Martin Brookings aka DAN C.E., became transfixed by Hip-Hop culture as a child, particularly as it pertained to music. As a teen, he entered the culture as a DJ, becoming professional at age 22. Enrolled in NYU’s Music Business/Technology Program, DAN C.E. was introduced to many opportunities within the entertainment industry. His knowledge of the entertainment industry has been honed through his work at Columbia Records (promotions), Arista Records (Sales), independent label J-Lynne Records (Director of A&R), Set 2 Run (Exclusive PR firm for Def Jam Records), Writing Room Recording Studios (assistant engineer) and music retail at Tower Records, HMV and Virgin Records (buyer). He has also produced television shows both locally (“Pure Entertainment” on public access TV in NYC) and globally (“88 Soul” on the Psuedo network on the internet).
Through the years, DAN C.E. has maintained residencies as a DJ at numerous venues in NYC. Most notably Fort Greene’s Brooklyn Mod and Sip Lounge in Morningside Heights (Both now defunkt.). DAN C.E. currently holds a residency at Harlem’s Billie’s Black and can be heard on ISB Radio on the RhythmAndSoulRadio.com network, every Saturday and Sunday, 12pm-2pm EST.
