ONE Musicfest 2011 Announces Festival Headliner Grammy Award Winning songstress Chrisette Michele
to include performances by Tortured Soul,  The Cool Kids, Anoop Desai, The Pharcyde, Anthony David, Foreign Exchange, and more and The Neo Soul Cafe will be in the Middle of it all.

Atlanta (Pitchengine.com) August 16, 2011 – Today ONE Musicfest organizers announced the complete 2011 performance roster to include: Tortured Soul, Anthony David, The Foreign Exchange, The Pharcyde and just added; Anoop Desai (American Idol), The Cool Kids and Chrisette Michele with a special performance by “Searching for The One” Winner – Kyron Leslie who was selected by the city of Atlanta residents. Recently catching the attention of true music fans across the nation with the theater documentary release of  “Beats, Rhymes, & Life”, legendary group A Tribe Called Quest’s Phife Dawg will serve as this year’s festival host. As seen on CNN, Vibe Magazine, the Atlanta Journal Constitution and more,  the ONE Music Fest  indoor/ outdoor concert experience will take place in over 20,000 square feet of green space at the beautiful Park Tavern concert space. This year’s festival format and musical experience will also infuse Park Tavern’s nationally renowned “Crab & Shrimp Festival” spearheaded by the venue’s culinary artist, Chef Romero. Releasing her third studio album Let Freedom Ring – this year’s festival headliner, Chrisette Michele, will add her signature sultry style with a mature level of musicality in her anticipated stage performance infused with over twelve non-stop hours of music by a plethora of nationally acclaimed artists, local artist and food galore. Hidden Beach Records Presents: Jill Scott’s ‘Have a “Lovely Day” Contest

Hidden Beach Recordings in conjunction with Centric TV Network are sponsoring a contest to promote The Have A Lovely Day Campaign, which was inspired by Jill Scotts cover of the Bill Wither’s classic “Lovely Day” from Hidden Beach’s soon to be released CD, The Original Jill Scott… which is scheduled to hit stores on Tuesday August 30, 2011.  The contest encourages fans to submit a short video showing random acts of kindness and volunteering.  Videos, are due by Monday, August 29th, and must be at least 60 seconds to 4 minutes in length.   The first prize for the top-full-length music video is $500, which will be donated to the  non-profit organization of the winner’s choice.  The winning video will be featured on  Centric and at www.centrictv.com. Nick Ashford Dies at 70

NEW YORK (AP) – Nick Ashford, one-half of the legendary Motown songwriting duo Ashford & Simpson, has died at age 70.

His longtime friend and former publicist Liz Rosenbergtold the Associated Press that Ashford — who along with wife Valerie Simpson wrote some of Motown’s biggest hits — died Monday in a New York City hospital. He had been suffering from throat cancer and had undergone radiation treatment.

Among the songs Ashford & Simpson penned are Ain’t No Mountain High EnoughYou’re All I Need To Get Byand Reach Out And Touch Somebody’s Hand.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters.

Hidden Beach set to release NEW Jill Scott Album!
Hidden Beach Recordings is committed to releasing music that reflects “A Sound.  A Style.  A State of Mind.”  They are continuing that legacy with the upcoming release of The Original Jill Scott from the vault vol 1.  The album, which will be available in both standard and deluxe versions, is scheduled for release on August 30, 2011.
The Original Jill Scott includes music from various recording sessions that were intentionally held for future releases including songs slated for what was to be Jill’s fourth studio Hidden Beach release.  The final track listing of both versions of this release were approved by Jill.

Happy 50th Birthday President Barack Obama

Happy 50th Birthday to President Barack Obama!!! Our nation’s 44th President and the first African American to hold the office. He was born August 4, 1961 in Honolulu, HI. He was a former 3-term, Illinois State Senator representing the 13th district from 1997-2004  and was elected U.S. Senator representing Illinois in 2004. He is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School. At Harvard, he was the first African American to ever become president of the Harvard Law Review. Before earning his law degree, he was a community organizer on the south side of Chicago. He worked as a Civil Rights attorney in Chicago and taught Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992-2004.  His presidential campaign began in Feb. 2007 and after a close campaign he won the Democratic party nomination, beating Hillary R. Clinton. He defeated Senator John McCain, the Republican nominee, in November 2008 and was inaugurated, as president on January 20, 2009.

He is the husband of Michelle R. Obama and the father of Malia and Sasha Obama.

The media would have us think President Obama hasn’t accomplished anything since he became president, but  his presidency is easily one of THE most active in history.
